Joint Raid Nets 50 Suspects in Cambodia-South Korea Online Scam Crackdown
AKP Phnom Penh, December 10, 2025 --
Cambodian and South Korean law enforcement authorities have arrested 50 suspects in a coordinated operation to dismantle an alleged high-tech online scam syndicate operating from a coastal building in Sihanoukville, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The suspects, including four women, were detained late Tuesday following a joint intelligence-led raid on the fifth floor of the Xin Du Hai building in Preah Sihanouk province. The operation targeted a transnational fraud network suspected of engaging in technology-based scams.
During the crackdown, authorities successfully rescued two South Korean nationals identified as victims of the sophisticated scheme.
Investigators seized a significant cache of equipment believed to be central to the illegal operation, including 63 all-in-one desktop computers, 60 mobile phones, and 60 iPads, all taken as evidence.
The joint effort, executed on Dec. 9, was led by the Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Online Scams, working closely with the National Police General Commissariat, the Unified Command of Preah Sihanouk Province, and South Korean counterparts, under the supervision of the provincial prosecutor’s office.
Following the arrests, specialised investigative units are continuing to collaborate with South Korean law enforcement to broaden the probe, identify the ringleaders, and fully dismantle the infrastructure of the alleged network. The suspects and seized evidence have been handed over to the provincial police and the joint Cambodia–South Korea task force for further legal action under Cambodian jurisdiction.
Authorities stressed that the operation is part of a nationwide campaign aimed at eradicating technology-based fraud. Cambodian law enforcement agencies reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing strict legal action against all masterminds and individuals involved in online scam activities, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy.
