Cambodia’s Rejects Thailand’s Allegations, Says Accusations Aim to Mislead Public and Create Military Tension
AKP Phnom Penh, December 07, 2025 --
The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has firmly rejected and dismissed all accusations made by Thailand, stating that they are intended to mislead both national and international public opinion and to create renewed military tension with Cambodia.
According to the Ministry’s press release issued this evening, on December 7, 2025, Thai troops opened fire on Cambodian soldiers stationed at Prolean Thmar area in Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province, beginning at around 14:15 and continuing until approximately 14:32. Despite this, the Thai side made unfounded claims against Cambodia, even though Cambodian forces did not return fire.
Cambodia categorically refuted Thailand’s allegations, describing them as baseless and politically motivated.
Later that evening, at around 20:02, Thai forces opened fire for a second time, using handguns in front of Cambodia’s frontline positions in O’Phka Sneh. At 20:30, Thai troops continued their attack near Prolean Thmor – the same location as the earlier incident – using handguns and mortars. The firing stopped at around 20:50.
Upholding its commitment to all agreed principles and peaceful conflict resolution in line with international law, Cambodia again refrained from returning fire and continued monitoring the situation with utmost vigilance.
The ministry confirmed that Cambodia has already notified the ASEAN Observers Team (AOT) for the second time and intends to request an on-site investigation to establish facts and ensure transparency, fairness, and accuracy.
Cambodia reiterated its unwavering commitment to respecting the ceasefire conditions and the Joint Declaration on Peace Deal between Cambodia and Thailand, grounded in goodwill and responsibility.
The Kingdom reaffirmed that it resolves disputes through peaceful means, in accordance with international law, treaties, conventions, and existing agreements. Cambodia opposes threats or the use of force and seeks a just, proper, lasting, and lawful solution – noting that conflict cannot be resolved through further conflict.
