Cambodian Girl Guides Launch National Camping Focused on Leadership and Self-Reliance
AKP Phnom Penh, December 07, 2025 --
The Girl Guides Association of Cambodia (GGAC) officially inaugurated its 2025 National Camping on Saturday at Kirirom Resort within Preah Suramrit–Kossamak Kirirom National Park, bringing together Girl Guides from across the country for three days of intensive personal development.
Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Commissioner-General of the GGAC, presided over the opening ceremony of the annual gathering. Held under the theme “Discover Yourself, Shape Your Future,” the camp emphasises experiential learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth in a challenging natural environment.
In her address, Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony highlighted the camp's role in complementing traditional schooling by delivering practical, life-based education absent from typical classroom settings. She stressed that the programme is designed to cultivate essential traits in participants, including learning to manage challenges and overcome fear independently; fostering cooperation, solidarity, and effective group dynamics; developing both physical and mental toughness; encouraging stewardship and environmental conservation.
“The camping provides unique opportunities for children and young women to build skills, work effectively in groups, and develop both physical and mental resilience,” Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony stated, adding that the gathering aims to seamlessly integrate enjoyment with structured formal and informal educational programmes tailored for Cambodian youth.
The event facilitates connections and the exchange of experiences among active members from the municipality and all provinces, fostering closer bonds within the national association. The Commissioner-General urged all attendees to strictly follow camp regulations to ensure a smooth and successful event.
Deputy Commissioner-General Chhov Phally detailed the diverse activities scheduled for the three-day programme. Highlights include: Team-building exercises and experience-sharing sessions; Physical fitness, yoga, meditation, and gratitude practices; Forest treks and environmental clean-up activities; The internationally recognised “Free Being Me” body confidence programme; Provincial food and dessert preparation demonstrations; Traditional campfire ceremonies.
Girl Guides from Siem Reap province expressed confidence that the camp would provide valuable knowledge and empowering experiences, enabling them to develop courage and resilience while safely navigating time away from their families under the guidance of leaders and peers.
