Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister Commends Strong Growth in Civil Aviation Sector
AKP Phnom Penh, December 07, 2025 --
As Cambodia celebrates the inaugural National Civil Aviation Day on Dec. 7, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet shared positive remarks on the Kingdom’s civil aviation development.
In his recent message marking the occasion, Samdech Thipadei stated that Cambodia has made remarkable strides in strengthening its aviation infrastructure, successfully launching three new international airports over the past three years with a combined investment of US$3.6 billion.
According to the Premier, these significant achievements underscore Cambodia’s commitment to expanding air transport capacity and supporting long-term economic growth through improved connectivity, tourism development, logistics, and trade.
The three newly operational international airports have greatly contributed to attracting visitors to the Kingdom. They include the US$1.1-billion Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, inaugurated in 2023; the US$200-million Dara Sakor International Airport in 2024; and the US$2.3-billion Techo International Airport, officially launched on Oct. 20, 2025.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also highlighted that Cambodia’s aviation advancements are rooted in the strategic vision of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate, who introduced the “Open Sky Policy” in 1999. This policy has been instrumental in increasing passenger and cargo flows through regional and international air liberalisation frameworks.
During the first ten months of 2025, Cambodia’s civil aviation sector recorded strong performance, with 35 domestic and international airlines operating flights to 16 countries and 39 cities, including destinations in ASEAN, China, South Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan, India, Qatar, the UAE, and Japan.
