Cambodia Pitches Tourism and Investment Potential to European Partners at High-Level Forum in Bulgaria
AKP Phnom Penh, November 29, 2025 --
The Kingdom of Cambodia showcased its robust investment climate, burgeoning tourism sector, and cultural richness to European leaders and media at a high-profile forum hosted by the Cambodian Embassy in the Republic of Bulgaria on Friday.
The event underscored the Southeast Asian nation’s strategic commitment to deepening economic and cultural ties, particularly with European partners.
Held at the Embassy residence in Sofia, the forum drew international journalists, prominent business executives, and invited guests, providing a comprehensive platform to detail Cambodia's broad-based opportunities across trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.
The session featured influential figures who offered strategic perspectives on Cambodia’s development and global engagement.
H.E. Ty Nitor, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, joined virtually via Zoom to outline the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strategic vision for national branding and attracting foreign direct investment.
Dr. Maxim Behar, President and CEO of M3 Communications Group, Inc., a leading communications firm in Europe, and President of the Bulgaria-Czech Chamber of Commerce, shared business insights and recent observations.
H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Bulgaria, hosted the event to strengthen bilateral engagement and cooperation between the two nations.
Speakers emphasised Cambodia’s rising profile as an attractive Southeast Asian destination, driven by political stability, enhanced security, and improving economic fundamentals.
The nation's appeal rests on two key pillars:
1. Cultural Heritage: The iconic, UNESCO-listed Angkor temple complex remains central to drawing international visitors, complemented by a growing number of historical and cultural landmarks.
2. Economic Opportunity: Rapid infrastructure development and investor-friendly policies have created an increasingly competitive investment climate.
Organisers stressed that strategic communication about these strengths is vital to conveying Cambodia’s long-term value proposition to international partners.
Dr. Maxim Behar shared observations from his recent business visit, commending the rapid pace of economic growth, urban development, and the dynamic expansion of the tourism sector.
"The strong support of the Royal Government and growing international interest are key drivers of the country’s rapid and innovative development," Dr. Behar noted.
He highlighted the expansion of the hospitality industry and heritage-based tourism projects as critical components for Cambodia’s sustainable and resilient economic future.
The forum was designed to achieve several core objectives: promote investment in the hospitality and green economy sectors; share business leads and recommendations from Dr. Behar’s visit; strengthen international cooperation networks; and identify pathways for sustainable, environmentally responsible development that directly benefits local communities.
Organisers expressed confidence that the initiative will significantly broaden international awareness of Cambodia as a high-potential destination for both tourism and investment, reinforcing diplomatic and economic ties with Bulgaria and the wider European Union.
The event, which saw participation from media, business leaders, and government officials, concluded with a forward-looking exchange of ideas focused on identifying concrete avenues for future cooperation.
