The State Secretariat of Border Affairs this evening provided an update on the progress of survey work and the installation of temporary border markers carried out by the Cambodian-Thai Joint Survey Team along the border sections between posts 42-47 and 52-59.

From Nov. 19 to 26, 2025, the Joint Survey Team conducted on-the-ground work between border posts 42 and 43, covering approximately 7 kilometres in Prey Chan village, O’Beichoan commune, O’Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province. The team has completed aerial photography using drones to produce a photomap and will proceed with surveying and placing temporary markers on the actual ground.

For the section between border posts 52 and 59, covering about 8.3 kilometres in Kamrieng commune, Kamrieng district, Battambang province, the work was conducted from Nov. 8 to 26, 2025. The team completed both the survey and the installation of 166 temporary border markers on the actual ground. They will next conduct drone-based aerial photography to create a photomap.

The State Secretariat reaffirmed that the ongoing survey and placement of temporary markers by the Joint Survey Team represent steady, phased progress toward the final on-the-ground demarcation. All work is being carried out thoroughly and responsibly, based on legal documents inherited from the French Protectorate, particularly the minutes (Procès-Verbaux) of the Commission of Delimitation between Indochina and Siam of 1908-1909 and 1919-1920, and in accordance with the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding, the 2003 Terms of Reference, previous Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) meeting minutes, and technical instructions mutually agreed upon.

The Secretariat of State of Border Affairs once again called on all compatriots and the public to place confidence in the Royal Government and the Cambodian JBC, affirming that both consistently uphold the highest professional integrity and prioritise national interest, especially the protection of territorial integrity and sovereignty, while strictly adhering to international law and respecting the established Cambodia-Thailand border inherited from the Commission of Delimitation between Indochina and Siam.
