Cambodia to Host Major Investment and Diplomacy Forum in Sofia, Deepening Ties with Bulgaria
AKP Phnom Penh, November 23, 2025 --
The Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Bulgaria is set to host a pivotal event aimed at dramatically enhancing bilateral economic and diplomatic relations, announcing the "Cambodia Potential Promotion Forum" on Nov. 28 at its chancery in Sofia.
The forum is strategically designed to spotlight the dynamic and emerging opportunities for cooperation between Cambodia and Bulgaria, attracting senior public and private sector representatives, economic experts, and international organisations. In a significant show of support, 13 major Bulgarian media outlets, encompassing television, radio, and digital platforms, have confirmed their attendance, underscoring the event's potential to amplify Cambodia’s international profile across Europe.
The upcoming forum follows the recent, high-impact visit to Phnom Penh by Mr. Maxim Behar, a prominent Bulgarian business leader and President of M3 Communications Group, Inc., widely recognised for his influence in public relations and strategic public affairs.
Mr. Behar’s mission, coordinated through close cooperation between the Cambodian Embassy, private sector partners, and the Department of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, signaled a growing European business appetite for the Cambodian market.
His trip highlighted new avenues for future cooperation, particularly in public relations, foreign direct investment, and the broader promotion of Cambodia’s international image.
The forum will showcase Cambodia’s robust fundamentals across key sectors, cementing its status as a dynamic investment destination in Southeast Asia.
Cambodia maintains robust economic expansion, underpinned by investment-friendly tax policies, a youthful and competitive workforce, and an increasingly diversified market base. From the iconic temples of Angkor Wat to pristine coastlines and thriving eco-tourism sites, Cambodia offers diverse travel experiences.
The presence of significant media is expected to raise European public awareness of these high-value tourism assets substantially.
Agriculture remains a high-potential sector, producing key commodities like rice, coffee, cocoa, rubber, and tropical fruits. The rapidly expanding garment, electronics, and light manufacturing industries are also generating new space for international partnership and investment.
The nation is rapidly accelerating its transition towards a digital economy, fostering growing interest and opportunities in FinTech, e-commerce, and emerging digital technologies—areas increasingly attracting European investment.
The government's long-term development strategies, coupled with sustained peace and the benefits of a young workforce, continue to strengthen Cambodia’s overall appeal for stable and sustainable development.
Crucially, the confirmed participation of 13 major Bulgarian media organisations provides the forum with unprecedented visibility. Their expected reporting and outreach are designed to be a key driver in: 1. Raising awareness of Cambodia’s economic and investment potential; 2. Enhancing the country’s profile in Bulgaria and strategically across the European continent; 3. Directly stimulating new trade, investment, and tourism opportunities.
The "Cambodia Potential Promotion Forum" is more than a platform for diplomatic dialogue; it represents a significant milestone in strengthening Cambodia's international presence and deepening its ties with Central and Eastern Europe. With active engagement from high-profile business leaders, economic experts, and strong media backing, Cambodia is strategically positioning itself as a promising and dynamic player in the future of Southeast Asia.
