CCAC Supports Cambodia’s Chakra Strategy
AKP Phnom Penh. November 19, 2025 --
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) has supported the Cambodia’s Chakra Strategy on Environment.
The initiative was highlighted by Mrs. Martina Otto, Head of the CCAC Secretariat, during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Cambodian Minister of Environment, at the Climate Conference in Belém, Brazil on Nov. 18.
H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth underlined that the Ministry of Environment has successfully implemented the campaign “Today I Do Not Use Plastic Bags” with approximately 14 million participants among the Cambodian population.
The Ministry of Environment is implementing a Carbon Neutral Community Project on an island, focusing on managing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from energy use, industrial processes, agriculture, and waste, and absorption by forests, especially mangrove forests, the minister added.
Mrs. Martina Otto appreciated the Ministry of Environment under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Minister for having a clear strategy with a comprehensive vision.
She supported the Carbon-Neutral Community initiative and participated in learning for its further expansion with the local communities.
