China has reaffirmed its commitment to playing a constructive role in easing the ongoing border tension between Cambodia and Thailand.

In a regular press conference on Nov. 13, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mr. Lin Jian said that China noted some new developments and issues during the implementation of the Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand. 

“As the friends and close neighbours of the two countries, China sincerely hopes that both sides can exercise restraint, work in the same direction, carry out friendly consultation, give play to existing bilateral mechanisms, and find a solution that is acceptable to both sides as soon as possible and prevent any escalation,” he emphasised.

The spokesperson also reaffirmed that China will continue to play a constructive role in promoting de-escalation in its own way.
