Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra has recently highlighted his insights to effectively fight fake news and information, particularly on social media platforms.

He said that the most effective measure to beat fake news is to disseminate the facts quickly, depriving the fake news of the chance to go viral.

To assess if a news piece is factual, he added, we need to verify the sources, research it online, read critically between the lines, study the proof and image used, and exercise common sense.

According to H.E. Neth Pheaktra, his ministry is deeply committed to fighting fake news and misinformation, including the fostering of media literacy among the public.

Educating the public about the risks and impacts of fake news and self-protection measures is an important and unwavering mission of the ministry, he emphasised.
