Senate President Shares Rare Photos from His Leadership in the 1980s
AKP Phnom Penh, April 08, 2025 --
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has shared four rare photographs from the 1980s, offering a personal glimpse into his early years of national leadership.
In a message posted on his social media accounts on April 8, the former Prime Minister of Cambodia reflected on the emotional weight of the images, noting that they brought back memories of leading Cambodia through both war and peace.
“Fighting while negotiating, and developing the socio-economic landscape at the same time—it took more than half of my life to secure peace and achieve the progress we see today,” he wrote.
Of the four photographs, three show Samdech Techo Hun Sen entering and attending parliamentary sessions, while the fourth was taken during a peace-focused meeting.
At the time the photos were taken, Samdech Techo was just over 30 years old, actively engaged in efforts to restore and rebuild the nation.
