Business Dialogue Held to Boost Vietnamese Investment and Business Activities in Cambodia

The Embassy of Vietnam in Cambodia, in collaboration with the Vietnam-Cambodia Business Association (VCBA), organised the Business Dialogue 2025 to promote Vietnamese investment and business activities in Cambodia and to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Cambodia H.E. Nguyen Minh Vu presided over the event with the participation of H.E. Suon Sophal, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia; H.E. Ho Sivyong, Delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia in charge as Director General of Trade Support Services, Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, and Oknha Leng Rithy, Chairman of VCBA.
Approximately 150 delegates, representing Vietnamese businesses and Vietnamese-origin enterprises across various sectors, including finance-banking-insurance, telecommunications, agriculture, construction-interior design, restaurant services, transport, logistics, import-export trade, healthcare, and tourism, attended the event.
This annual conference, organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, serve as a platform to update shareholders on bilateral cooperation and economic developments between the two countries.
As Vietnam and Cambodia are close neighbours with an enduring traditional friendship, strengthening and enhancing this amicable and comprehensive cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, and tourism, remains a priority for the high-level Leaders of both countries and a key mission of the Embassy of Vietnam in the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Nguyen Minh Vu stated in his opening remarks.
The Embassy of Vietnam in the Kingdom of Cambodia and VCBA will carefully consider and compile the recommendations and proposals from Vietnamese businesses and Vietnamese-origin enterprises to relay to the relevant authorities in both governments, he said.
“Moving forward, we will engage with Cambodian authorities and report back to relevant ministries in Vietnam to seek solutions that enhance the investment and business environment for Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia,” the Vietnamese ambassador underlined. “We hope that established businesses in Cambodia will continue to expand their investments and that those yet to enter the market will soon find promising opportunities in this dynamic economy.”
In 2024, Vietnam-Cambodia trade turnover reached US$10.1 billion, marking a 17.5 percent increase from 2023, figures from the Vietnamese Embassy showed.
In the first two months of 2025, trade turnover amounted to US$1.8 billion, reflecting an 11.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Currently, Vietnam ranks as the fifth-largest investor in Cambodia, with a total registered capital of over US$2.94 billion across 215 projects.
H.E. Ho Sivyong highlighted the importance of the dialogue in deepening economic ties. “Today’s event will serve as a valuable platform for participants, including both the public and private sectors of our two nations, to engage in discussions, exchange perspectives, and share insights aimed at enhancing trade relations,” he said.
H.E. Suon Sophal and Oknha Leng Rithy provided updates on the current state of bilateral economic cooperation and key areas that require further development.
During the Dialogue, delegates shared experiences, lessons, successes, challenges, and solutions encountered by Vietnamese businesses and Vietnamese-origin enterprises, including large enterprises that have invested and done business successfully for many years in Cambodia such as Metfone, BIDC Bank, Angkor Milk, Chu Se Kampong Thom Rubber Company, Dien Quang Group, TCV Construction Company, and so on.
