A Cambodian Worker in Thailand Confirmed Death in Recent Earthquake

A Cambodian migrant worker has been confirmed death following the Mar. 28 earthquake in Thailand, announced this afternoon the Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training based on a report of the Thai Ministry of Interior’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department and the ongoing monitoring by the ministry and the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Thailand.
The deceased, Mr. Mean Savang, 23, is from Malay district of Banteay Meanchey province, the source pointed out.
This afternoon, a religious ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Hun Saroeun, Cambodian Ambassador to Thailand, along with the deceased’s family, before his body was repatriated to Cambodia.
Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training extended their deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for Mr. Mean Savang’s soul to rest in peace.
The Premier has recently reaffirmed that the well-being of Cambodian nationals living and working in Myanmar and Thailand, particularly in earthquake-affected areas, remains a top priority for the Royal Government of Cambodia.
He stated that the Royal Embassies of Cambodia in both countries, along with labour counsellors, are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to provide timely and effective assistance to Cambodian nationals in need.
