Japanese Auditor Praises APSARA National Authority for Effectively Managing Angkor Environment
AKP Phnom Penh, February 28, 2025 --
Japanese environmental auditor Mr. Yamada Mamoru has conducted an assessment of the environmental management practices implemented by the APSARA National Authority at the Angkor site, the authority said in a news release on Thursday.
His evaluation highlighted that the authority is effectively managing the environment in accordance with the ISO 14001 international standard.
During his inspection, Mr. Yamada noted that the APSARA National Authority has established a comprehensive plan for managing both the natural and human environments within the Angkor area. He observed the diligent efforts of workers repairing the gates of Ta Prohm Temple, who were taking necessary precautions to mitigate dust and properly store broken stone waste.
Mr. Yamada expressed enthusiasm and admiration for the initiatives being undertaken to enhance the area surrounding Angkor Wat and other locations, aiming to create a greener landscape that would attract tourists and further beautify the Angkor region.
He also commended the APSARA National Authority for its meticulous planning to safeguard ancient temples in light of climate change and rising global temperatures.
