Cambodian Parliament Condemns Attempted Murder of Samdech Techo Hun Sen
AKP Phnom Penh, February 15, 2025 --
The National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia has issued a petition strongly condemning the attempted murder of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, and his family.
The condemnation was released on Feb. 14 following a recent drone attack on Samdech Techo Hun Sen's residence located in Takhmao Town, Kandal province, calling it an extremist act, partiality, irreligion, and unlawful.
That terrorist act violated national and international laws and insulted the lives of the nation's top leaders who have sacrificed their lives for the country and people, wrote the petition.
The brutal, immoral, and sinful act shows the extremist groups' culture of violence that is the greatest danger to people and the nation because it can lead to national division and bring the country back to the flames of war.
The NA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting peace and social stability and, on behalf of the people who voted for the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), expressed its gratitude for the sacrifices of Samdech Techo Hun Sen for the peace and development of Cambodia.
The NA also called on citizens in the country and abroad to condemn the act of terrorism and cooperate with competent authorities to report or provide information related to those extremist groups to punish them.
At the same time, the Senate, the Constitutional Council, the government ministries and institutions, the armed forces, civil society organisations, trade unions, Cambodian communities abroad, and so on have issued their respective petitions condemning the attempted murder.
