92 Percent of CMAC’s Operational Staff Members Continue Their Duties as Usual
AKP Phnom Penh, February 14, 2025 --
Almost all staff members of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) has continued to work as usual under the support of the Royal Government and its partners, reaffirmed CMAC Director General H.E. Heng Ratana.
On Feb. 13, 2025, CMAC received an official notification from a development partner requesting CMAC to demobilise staff members and operational teams under the support of the U.S. aid project starting from Mar. 1, 2025, he said.
Challenging this critical situation, he stressed, CMAC management will make every effort to ensure that all CMAC’s technical staff and operational teams under this USA grant assistance projects continue their duties within CMAC as usual.
According to the CMAC director general, approximately 92 percent of the entire CMAC’s operational staff members continue to carry out their operational duties as usual in all provinces, under the support by the Royal Government of Cambodia and donors as well as development partners namely Japan, China, Germany, CMAA/UNDP (supported by the governments of South Korea, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand), JICA as well as organisations like JMAS, NPA, APOPO, MAG and the private sector.
Besides, he underlined that the recent aid projects CMAC has received from development partners and donors are the projects to continue with the existing resources (demining toolboxes), which does not mean these recent aid projects are to replace CMAC’s technical staff and teams under the USA funded projects.
