DPM Hun Many: Safeguard Cambodia's Hard-Earned Peace
AKP Phnom Penh, January 07, 2025 --
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hun Many has called on youth to safeguard Cambodia’s hard-earned peace and continue developing the nation for future generations.
H.E. Hun Many, who is also the Minister of Civil Service, voiced the call when addressing a recent memorial ceremony of Cambodia's victory day over the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime by the Union of the Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) at Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre, Phnom Penh.
Seeing sorrowful remnants at the centre, youth can gain a deeper understanding of the horrors of the Khmer Rouge regime and the sacrifices made for Cambodia’s current peace and stability.
As UYFC President, H.E. Hun Many appreciated the federation's commemoration of the 46th Anniversary of the Victory Day over the Genocidal Regime (Jan. 7, 1979 - Jan. 7, 2025).
He emphasised that the practice is not only an expression of unity and respect for the victims and fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives to oust the Khmer Rouge but also an opportunity for the younger generation to connect with Cambodia’s history.
By honouring the sacrifices of the past, today’s youth are reminded of the determination of Cambodian ancestors who fought to restore peace and freedom for the nation.
