Cambodia Records Over 3.5 Million Travellers during Universal New Year Celebrations

Some 3.5 million national and international tourists travelled across Cambodia during the Universal New Year celebrations on Dec. 30-31, 2024.
Of the number, about 3.48 million were national visitors and 47,260 were foreign tourists, according to the reports from the municipal and provincial tourism departments.
Phnom Penh capital, where the first ever “Celebrating Cambodia” event was held, attracted most of the visitors (1,573,479), followed by Preah Sihanouk coastal province (422,829), Siem Reap cultural province (333,660), and Battambang northwestern province (324,760).
“Celebrating Cambodia”, aimed to honour the nation’s vibrant culture, reflect on past milestones with gratitude, and inspire pride in being part of a united nation, took place in front of the Royal Palace on Dec. 31.
The event featured different interesting programmes ranging from parades with the participation of 3,000 people, folk games and art performances, to concerts, food fair, New Year countdown 2025, and firework display, accompanied by giant puppets, giant lanterns and giant balloons.
