AKP Phnom Penh, January 01, 2025 --
Endangered Sunda Pangolin (Manis javanica), also known as scaly anteater, has been released into its natural habitat in the forest in Rattanakiri province.
The update was shared on Monday by NatureLife Cambodia, adding that the animal was checked before release and it was healthy and could live in its natural habitat.
The Sunda Pangolins are classified as highly endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List (IUCN Red List).
Some of the threats to the species include loss of habitats, hunting, trading, and trapping.
The authorities called on people to take part in preventing illegal hunting, trapping, and trading of the pangolins as well as other wild animals.
