PM Hun Manet Urges for Stronger Cambodia-Türkiye Business Ties to Reach US$1 Billion Trade Target
AKP Phnom Penh, October 16, 2026 --
As the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of Türkiye reaffirm their commitment to increasing bilateral trade to US$1 billion in the coming years, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has called on business communities in both countries to work together to achieve this target.
Speaking at the Cambodia-Türkiye Business Forum, held in Türkiye this afternoon (local time) and co-organised by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, Türkiye’s Foreign Economic Relations Board and the Ministry of Trade of Türkiye, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the growth in bilateral trade in 2025 had demonstrated strong momentum towards achieving the US$1 billion target.
To realise this ambition, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of strengthening key bilateral mechanisms, including the Cambodia-Türkiye Joint Economic Commission, the Cambodia-Türkiye Business Council and the Commercial Office of the Turkish Embassy. These mechanisms play an important role in maintaining regular dialogue and addressing barriers to trade and investment.
He stressed that government-to-government relations provide the necessary legal and institutional frameworks, while the business community serves as the driving force behind the expansion of economic ties.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet encouraged relevant ministries, investment promotion agencies and chambers of commerce from both countries, including Türkiye’s Foreign Economic Relations Board, to work closely together to connect business partners, share market information and support the development of concrete investment projects.
The Prime Minister also urged businesses to look beyond overall trade figures and focus on diversifying products, strengthening business networks, and linking Türkiye’s strong industrial capabilities with Cambodia’s expanding manufacturing base and abundant agricultural resources.
He called on Turkish businesspeople and investors to seize the many opportunities available in both countries, particularly in manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, transport and logistics, renewable energy, digital technology and sustainable tourism.
Closer cooperation in these sectors, he said, could generate greater added value and deliver long-term economic benefits for the peoples of both Cambodia and Türkiye.
At the end of the forum, the Prime Minister witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Türkiye’s Foreign Economic Relations Board. The MoU aims to promote business and investment cooperation between the two countries.
In 2025, bilateral trade between Cambodia and Türkiye reached approximately US$400 million, representing an increase of more than 18 percent compared with 2024.
