Cambodia and Viet Nam have agreed to further strengthen and deepen their bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key sectors, reaffirming their commitment to advancing ties to a new level as the two countries prepare to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Le Minh Hung at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Friday afternoon, during the latter’s official visit to Cambodia on Oct. 9-10, 2026.

The Cambodian Prime Minister also congratulated Viet Nam on its economic growth of 8.02 percent in 2025 and 9.01 percent during the first nine months of 2026. He expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the Party and State, Viet Nam would achieve double-digit economic growth and fulfil its two centennial development goals in 2030 and 2045.
In response, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung expressed his deep appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Royal Government and people of Cambodia, saying that the visit would further strengthen bilateral relations and deepen practical cooperation between the two countries.

They agreed to encourage relevant ministries and institutions, as well as young people in both countries, to organise activities and events to commemorate the anniversary and promote friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
The two Prime Ministers also discussed ways to elevate bilateral relations to a new level and expand practical cooperation in key areas, including politics, defence and security, the economy, trade and investment, agriculture, energy, education and vocational training, infrastructure connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
They also underscored the importance of promoting exchanges between young people and strengthening cooperation between provinces along the Cambodia-Viet Nam border to enhance connectivity and foster closer ties between local communities.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet briefed his Vietnamese counterpart on recent developments in the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border issues peacefully, based on international law and in accordance with conventions, treaties and agreements between the countries concerned.
