AKP Phnom Penh, September 30, 2026 --

H.E. Ke Sovann, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations in Geneva, met with Mr. Thomas Andrews, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia, in Geneva on Sept. 30.

During the meeting, Ambassador Ke Sovann provided an overview of Cambodia’s history and national context, highlighting the impact of decades of conflict on the country’s strong emphasis on peace, security, stability, development, and the well-being and human rights of its people.

The two sides exchanged views on the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border. Ambassador Ke Sovann requested continued attention to the human rights of displaced Cambodians and their safe and dignified return to their homes.

They also discussed the Special Rapporteur’s forthcoming report to the 63rd Session of the Human Rights Council.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue and cooperation on human rights.
