Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet Dispatches Flood Relief to 400 Families in Battambang City
AKP Phnom Penh, October 8, 2026 --
Battambang Provincial Governor H.E. Sok Lou presided over a distribution ceremony on Wednesday to deliver emergency food supplies and aid from Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to 400 vulnerable and flood-affected households across four Sangkats (communes) in Battambang city.
The distribution, carried out through the National Food Reserve System, targeted residents from Sangkats O’Mal, Chamkar Samrong, Sla Ket, and Kdol Daun Teav following severe rainfall-induced flooding.
During the event, Governor Sok Lou reiterated the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to citizen welfare, stating that leadership – from Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to current Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet – has consistently prioritised public safety and well-being during crises.
He urged affected residents to maintain strict health and safety protocols during the recovery period, specifically highlighting the risk of waterborne illnesses, dengue fever, drownings, and venomous animals. He advised families to consume clean or boiled water, monitor elderly relatives and children, and prepare to rebuild their livelihoods through farming and business activities as floodwaters recede.
The governor extended his gratitude to local authorities, armed forces, and field teams for their timely intervention during the floods.
In addition, Governor Sok Lou encouraged parents to support their children's education, adhere to traffic laws, keep their communities clean, and stay away from illicit drugs. He also reminded eligible citizens to register for upcoming elections and advised previously registered voters to update their biometric data – including photos and thumbprints – during the voter list update period running from Oct. 7 to Nov. 30, 2026.
