AKP Phnom Penh, September 8, 2026 -- The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport have launched a school meal programme extended to communities displaced by recent border conflicts in Preah Vihear province.

The initiative aims to provide sustained support for children and families affected by the crisis.

According to a WFP statement issued on Sept. 7, 2026, during a field visit alongside H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, WFP Country Director Ms. Kyungnan Park met with displaced families to discuss their experiences and reaffirm the agency's commitment to assisting those impacted by the emergency.

With the generous support of the people of Japan, affected communities have received vital assistance through a school breakfast programme. The meals serve as a crucial lifeline, helping children maintain good health, continue their education, and preserve hope for a brighter future.
