Cambodian Ambassador Vows to Elevate Ties with Romania During Credentials Ceremony

H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo, Cambodia's Ambassador to Romania, presented his credentials to Romanian President H.E. Nicușor Dan on Friday, expressing a strong commitment to deepening bilateral relations into a more active, result-oriented partnership.
During the ceremony in Bucharest, Ambassador Chea Chanboribo conveyed warm greetings and wishes for peace and prosperity from His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, to President Dan and the people of Romania.
Dr. Chea Chanboribo highlighted the long-standing, traditional friendship between the two nations, rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to international peace. He reaffirmed Cambodia's foreign policy stance prioritising state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law.
In response, President Dan expressed full support for strengthening bilateral cooperation, noting that economic ties and education should serve as key priorities. He called for translating strong political ties into tangible economic outcomes by boosting trade, investment, and private-sector connectivity.
In the field of education, the Romanian president advocated for stronger university-level cooperation through Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to promote faculty and student exchanges, joint research programmes, and curriculum development.
Ambassador Chea Chanboribo welcomed the proposals and expressed deep gratitude to Bucharest for awarding scholarships to five Cambodian students. He requested that Romania expand its scholarship programmes in the future to help build human capital and foster stronger people-to-people ties.
The Ambassador also proposed establishing news exchange agreements between the national media outlets of both countries to enhance mutual understanding. Additionally, he emphasised leveraging the La Francophonie framework as a bridge between Europe and Asia to foster broader cooperation in economic, cultural, and technological fields.
Dr. Chea Chanboribo pledged to exert every effort during his tenure to transform the decades-long friendship into a forward-looking partnership that yields concrete, long-term benefits for the people of both nations.
