AKP, Phnom Penh, August 28, 2026 -- Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia and President of the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC-2), held separate meetings with senior parliamentary leaders from Vietnam, the Maldives, Ghana and Kenya on Friday morning at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh.

According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson for the Senate of Cambodia, during his meeting with H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked her for attending ISC-2, which Cambodia is hosting in Phnom Penh. H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh praised the successful opening ceremony of the conference, attended by senior leaders from around the world.

The Vietnamese parliamentary leader highlighted the importance of Cambodia-Vietnam relations, noting that 2027 will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 50th anniversary of Samdech Techo’s journey to Vietnam to seek support for the liberation of Cambodia from the genocidal regime.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also met with H.E. Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Speaker of the People’s Majis of Maldives. The Maldivian parliamentary leader highly appreciated Cambodia’s successful organisation of ISC-2 and praised Cambodia’s reputation on the international stage.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Cambodia and the Maldives, with particular attention to tourism and agriculture, including opportunities to promote agricultural exports.

In a separate meeting with H.E. Andrew Asiamah Amoako, Second Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, Samdech Techo expressed his appreciation for his participation in ISC-2. H.E. Amoako praised Cambodia for successfully hosting the important international parliamentary conference and spoke highly of Cambodia’s reputation internationally.

The discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation between Southeast Asia and Africa, as well as exploring opportunities to expand bilateral trade between Cambodia and Ghana.

The Cambodian Senate President also received H.E. Farah Maalim, a Member of the Parliament of Kenya, with whom he exchanged views on issues of common interest, particularly cooperation among developing countries.

H.E. Maalim praised Cambodia’s development and international standing, as well as Samdech Techo’s past leadership in pursuing peace through the “Win-Win Policy,” which contributed to ending conflict and maintaining peace in Cambodia.
