Cambodia Secures First-Ever Official Approval to Export Edible Bird's Nests to China
AKP Phnom Penh, July 23, 2026 --
China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) has officially granted market access for edible bird’s nest products from Cambodia, approving local firm BEST LIFE PRODUCT Co., Ltd. as the country’s first authorised exporter to the Chinese market, according to Cambodia's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Ministry described the milestone as "opening a new chapter" for Cambodian exports to China. The decision marks the culmination of joint efforts between the Ministry, GACC, private sector stakeholders, and local swiftlet farmers who worked to upgrade sanitary and quality control standards to meet international requirements.
The Ministry noted that while six companies were initially submitted to Chinese customs authorities for trade consideration, BEST LIFE PRODUCT Co., Ltd. is the first to satisfy regulatory criteria and receive formal export clearance.
Mr. Suy Kokthean, President of the Khmer Swiftlet Association, confirmed the company's approval and stated that preparation for the inaugural shipment to China is currently underway.
"This landmark approval will serve as a catalyst for expanding both the production capacity and quality standards of Cambodia's edible bird's nest industry," he said, adding that the direct access to China's high-demand market is expected to boost local market confidence and deliver significant benefits to the national economy.
