Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam Agree on Joint Tour Packages and Action Plan to Boost "Three Countries, One Destination" Campaign
AKP Phnom Penh, July 14, 2026 —
Tourism officials from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam have agreed to introduce joint tour packages and a concrete action plan to accelerate the "Three Countries, One Destination" campaign, following a recent trilateral meeting, held on the sidelines of the 64th ASEAN National Tourism Organisation (NTO) meeting in Singapore.
The Cambodian delegation was led by H.E. Dr. Chuk Chumno, Director General of Tourism Development and International Cooperation and Head of Cambodia's NTO. Lao PDR was represented by H.E. Ms. Phonemaly Inthaphome, Director General of Tourism Development and Head of Lao NTO, while Vietnam was led by H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and Head of Vietnam's NTO.
The three parties noted significant progress in advancing the joint tourism campaign in line with directives from their respective leaders. To further boost the initiative's effectiveness, they agreed to develop a joint package tour comprising 3 days in Vietnam, 3 days in Cambodia, and 3 days in Laos, incorporating key destinations from each country to stimulate intra-regional travel and attract international visitors from third countries.
Additionally, the meeting agreed on a realistic and practical Joint Action Plan, which includes the production of a joint promotional video for Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam; the organisation of joint events spanning tourism, culture, and sports; regular business matching and business meet activities; and periodic FAM (familiarisation) trips for travel professionals.
The plan also calls for streamlining cross-border travel procedures for tourists from the three countries and from third countries. Technical officials will continue to meet regularly to identify low-hanging fruits—actions that can be implemented quickly, efficiently, and with immediate results—in response to the action plan.
The outcomes of these activities and campaigns will be reported to the three Tourism Ministers during the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Tourism Ministers' Meeting, scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the 20th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Expo, from Aug. 24 to 29, 2026, in Vietnam.
At that meeting, the three parties will assess progress and issue further implementation plans to sustain the momentum of the joint tourism initiative.
