Cambodia Welcomes 650 New Enterprises, Pushing Total Workforce Past 2.2 Million
AKP Phnom Penh, June 29, 2026 --
Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) reported on Monday that 650 new enterprises, companies, and factories registered during the first five months of 2026.
This growth brings the country's total number of registered enterprises to 47,299.
These new openings have expanded the national workforce to 2,296,348 workers, a total that includes 1,309,190 women.
H.E. Sun Mesa, Spokesperson for the MLVT, noted that the recent surge in factory setups has driven strong domestic labour demand, alongside a steady rise in manufacturing orders and exports.
He attributed this upward trajectory in investment, industrial development, and job creation directly to the economic strength of Cambodia and the streamlined investment reforms introduced by the Royal Government during its seventh mandate.
“Through the policies of the Royal Government’s seventh mandate, we have seen a noticeable increase in new factory establishments and a massive demand for labour," H.E. Sun Mesa said. "We expect this momentum in both orders and exports to keep rising.”
