RAC, Cuban Universities Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic Cooperation and Tourism Human Resource Development
AKP Phnom Penh, June 24, 2026 -- The Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Embassy of Cuba, representing two leading Cuban institutions – the Enrique José Varona University of Pedagogical Sciences and the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz – to enhance academic cooperation and tourism human resource development.
The MoU was signed in Phnom Penh on June 24 by RAC President H.E. Dr. Sok Touch and H.E. Ms. Milena Caridad Zaldívar Piedra, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in a range of areas, including the exchange of academic publications, research materials, and scientific experts; language training through faculty exchanges; collaboration in the agricultural sector; exchange visits for researchers, doctoral candidates, and academic delegations; development of joint research projects; identification of cooperation partners; and the organisation of workshops and conferences.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, H.E. Dr. Sok Touch said the RAC will initially focus on Spanish-language training programmes as part of the cooperation framework. He noted that strengthening Spanish-language capacity could help attract more visitors from Latin American countries, a region with growing potential for Cambodia’s tourism industry.
