Global Girl Guides Conference in Cambodia Highlights Empowerment of Girls and Young Women
AKP Phnom Penh, June 10, 2026 --
Cambodia is preparing to welcome international delegates, Girl Guide and Girl Scout leaders, young women leaders, supporters, and partners from around the world to Siem Reap for the 39th WAGGGS World Conference and the 42nd Annual Meeting of The Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS), scheduled to take place from June 14 to 19, 2026.
According to a press announcement issued by the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia (GGAC), the events are organised by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and The Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS), with coordination and support from Cambodia as the host country.
Hosting the two global gatherings is regarded as both an honour and a source of national pride for Cambodia, reflecting the country’s active participation in the international Girl Guiding movement and its commitment to promoting leadership, confidence, social service, and expanded opportunities for girls and young women.
Held under the theme “We See, We Care, We Act,” the events emphasise three key priorities. “We See” focuses on helping young women discover, learn, and prepare for participation in the World Conference; “We Care” highlights support and commitment to advancing the development of girls and young women; and “We Act” encourages global delegates to collaborate in shaping future directions and positive change.
GGAC noted that for Cambodia, the events represent more than international meetings, serving as an opportunity to present the country’s hospitality, cultural richness, and capacity to host major international events with professionalism and security.
Participants will also have the opportunity to experience Siem Reap-Angkor, Cambodia’s cultural heritage, and traditional values. A special Cambodia Night programme will feature Khmer arts, cuisine, traditions, and cultural performances aimed at strengthening friendship and international understanding.
The Girl Guides Association of Cambodia extended a warm welcome to all delegates, distinguished guests, international friends, and partners, reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to empowering girls and young women and strengthening global cooperation through shared values and cultural exchange.
