Cambodian and Thai FMs Discuss Trust-Building and Border De-escalation in New York
AKP Phnom Penh, May 27, 2026 —
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn held talks with his Thai counterpart H.E. Sihasak Phuangketkeow on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council High-Level Open Debate in New York on May 26.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the two sides focused extensively on measures aimed at rebuilding mutual trust, de-escalating tensions along the Cambodia-Thailand border, resuming bilateral mechanisms, and restoring and normalising relations between the two neighbouring countries.
The meeting followed up on discussions held earlier this month during the trilateral meeting in Cebu involving Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Thai Prime Minister, and Philippine President.
