Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration Cracks Down on Tech Scams, Detains 29 Suspects
AKP Phnom Penh, May 27, 2026 --
The joint command of Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration has cracked down on a technology-based fraud (online scam) operation, resulting in the arrest of 29 suspects, according to an official release on Wednesday.
The operation, led by Mr. Min Kompheak, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, was conducted in coordination with the prosecutor’s office of the Provincial Court. It targeted a building located in Village 3, Sangkat 1, Sihanoukville.
During the raid on May 26, specialised forces seized a significant amount of evidence, including 44 desktop computers and 213 mobile phones, along with other related materials.
A total of 29 suspects were taken into custody, including two females. Among those detained were 13 Indian nationals, 11 Nepali nationals (including two females), and five Bangladeshi nationals.
All 29 suspects, together with the confiscated evidence, have been transferred to Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Commissioner’s office for further questioning and case preparation. They will subsequently be sent to the provincial court to face legal proceedings.
This operation marks the latest crackdown in the province. Notably, on May 23 and 24, the Provincial Administration’s joint command also conducted investigations and raids on two separate locations for similar online scam activities, during which over 100 suspects were arrested.
