Acting Head of State Urges Officials to Maintain Stability, Intensify Crackdown on Online Scams

Acting Head of State and Senate President, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has urged officials at all levels to continue safeguarding national stability, public security, and social order, with a particular focus on intensifying the crackdown on online scam operations.
Samdech Techo made the remarks during a get-together with provincial, municipal, district, commune, and Sangkat council members, as well as leaders of various departments and units in Kampong Cham province on April 25, 2026. A total of 1,193 officials attended the gathering at the provincial hall.
According to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith, the visit was aimed at strengthening accountability between the Senate and elected representatives, promoting transparency, and improving the effectiveness of local governance. It also sought to reinforce close ties with local authorities and encourage officials to pay greater attention to their responsibilities while delivering better public services and addressing citizens’ concerns in a timely manner.
During the event, Samdech Techo Hun Sen praised civil servants in Kampong Cham for their efforts in serving the public and helping preserve peace, order, and social stability. He commended authorities for preventing acts that could disrupt society.
He also reminded officials, especially commune and Sangkat council members, to remain committed to serving the nation and its people, while ensuring faster and more efficient delivery of essential services to avoid public dissatisfaction.
Samdech Techo emphasised the need to maintain national stability and continue implementing the government’s “Safe Village-Commune” policy, which includes tackling crimes such as robbery, snatching, drug trafficking, and especially online scams.
In addition, he voiced support for improving state revenue collection through customs and taxation, while preventing tax evasion and unregistered business activities.
The Acting Head of State also instructed local authorities to resolve land disputes quickly and effectively, particularly through out-of-court mechanisms, stressing that authorities must remain neutral and fair to all parties.
On economic matters, Samdech Techo called for prudent macroeconomic management, especially amid rising fuel prices, urging authorities to reduce unnecessary spending.
He further encouraged continued attention to veterans and retirees in local communities through assistance programs and regular outreach activities.
Finally, Samdech Techo called on local authorities to work together to protect natural resources, prevent environmental destruction, and ensure their long-term preservation.
