AKP Phnom Penh, April 20, 2026 --

Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, accompanied by his two sons, H.E. Hun Many and H.E. Hun Manith, personally accompanied His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni to the operating room on Monday morning in Beijing, China.

According to a message posted by Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his official Facebook page, the surgery performed by Chinese doctors was successful. He added that His Majesty had regained consciousness after anesthesia and was under close medical observation following the procedure.

Samdech Techo said His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Mother expressed gratitude to Buddhist monks and the Cambodian people for their prayers and well wishes for the King’s recovery.

He also thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Government of the People’s Republic of China for their care and attention to the King’s health.

Special appreciation was extended to the medical team in Beijing for conducting the surgery successfully and safely for the beloved monarch of Cambodia.

Samdech Techo further revealed that he and his two sons had arrived in Beijing on April 17 with the sole purpose of accompanying the King and Queen Mother during this difficult period, noting that the King’s health is of deep importance to the entire nation.

He added that if His Majesty’s condition continues to improve, he plans to return to Cambodia on April 22.
