AKP Phnom Penh, April 14, 2026—

A 250-metre ceremonial tug-of-war rope is paraded this afternoon from the Nokor Sankranta Cultural Village toward the “Nokor Sankranta Friendship Tug-of-War” competition site along the Chaktomuk Walk Street, as part of celebrations marking the Khmer Traditional New Year, Year of Horse.

Tug-of-War game or Tean Proat in Khmer was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on Dec. 2, 2015, in Windhoek, Namibia.
