PM: Cambodia Must Continue Reforms to Ensure Resilience and Development
AKP Phnom Penh, April 11, 2026 --
Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has stressed that Cambodia must continue to pursue reforms to ensure its resilience and sustainable development amid ongoing challenges.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project – Section II in Takeo province this morning, Samdech Thipadei noted that periods of difficulty can create opportunities for meaningful reform.
“Many reforms can succeed in challenging times. […] Sometimes, like surgery, necessary changes can be made even when they are painful,” he said.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Cambodia has faced a series of challenges in recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic, trade-related issues, the border dispute with Thailand, and the global energy crisis stemming from conflicts in the Middle East.
Despite these difficulties, he said Cambodia has undertaken significant reforms, including streamlining and strengthening institutional mechanisms while addressing existing weaknesses to enhance national development.
Samdech Thipadei emphasised that maintaining peace and stability requires continuous effort and reform.
“To achieve lasting harmony and peace, we must continue to reform. Peace is difficult to attain, and preserving it requires constant commitment. Therefore, we must keep strengthening ourselves,” the Premier underlined.
