Russian Naval Ships Dock at Sihanoukville for Three-Day Visit to Boost Defence Ties
AKP Phnom Penh, April 06, 2026 --
Two Russian warships, Sovershenny (No. 333) and Rezky (No. 343), from the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy, docked this morning at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk province.
The vessels, under the command of Rear Admirals Shmagin Artem and Kovalev Evgenii, carry a combined crew of 262 and are scheduled to remain in Cambodia until April 8.
The ships’ arrival was warmly welcomed by Rear Admiral In Sokhemara, Deputy Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy’s Ream Naval Base, along with 60 Cambodian naval personnel, in the presence of H.E. Anatoly Borovik, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cambodia.
The visit is aimed at strengthening defence relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Russia, which have been consistently maintained throughout their diplomatic ties.
During their stay, the Russian naval delegation is expected to pay courtesy calls on the Commander of the Ream Naval Base, the Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, and senior officials of the Ministry of National Defence.
In addition to official engagements, friendly sports activities between the Cambodian and Russian navies are also planned to enhance mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation.
