NA Second Vice President Builds Houses for Elderly in Prey Veng
AKP Prey Veng, April 01, 2026 --
H.E. Vong Sauth, Second Vice President of the National Assembly, handed over a house to a 92-year-old woman in Kamchay Mear district on Wednesday and inspected another dwelling being built for an elderly woman.
Measuring 4.5 metres by 8.5 metres, the concrete house is in the traditional krapeu har style with a corrugated cement roof.
The recipient is Sok San, who is living in extreme poverty with no support network in Cheach Thbong village in Cheach commune.
Accompanied by his spouse Heng Pou, the Second Vice President also visited the construction site of another house in the same commune.
Located in Tuol Angkrang village, the recipient of this house will be Nhem Neun, a 73-year-old woman who also lives in difficult circumstances with no support.
The house is being built by volunteer workers — local residents and village defence forces — under the guidance of skilled technicians.
H.E. Vong Sauth said the selection of poor citizens to receive donated houses is overseen by village and commune authorities, with residents voting to identify those most in need.
Sites visited on Wednesday are the fourth and fifth houses for the poor that have been funded by the Second Vice President and his wife since 2023.
The couple have pledged to continue building concrete houses for the poor in every village in Cheach commune.
Such humanitarian efforts reflect not only the provision of shelter but also show a spirit of generosity, sharing hardship and fortune, and a commitment to leaving no citizen behind.
They are also an important contribution to improving local living standards in line with the social protection policies of the Royal Government.
