Cambodian PM Pledges to Avert Conflict While Visiting Displaced Families
AKP Phnom Penh, February 14. 2026 -- Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet on Saturday reaffirmed his Royal Government’s commitment to preventing a return to armed conflict, as he visited over a thousand families displaced by recent instability near the border.
Addressing 1,248 families displaced from Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages and currently sheltered at a safe camp in Chan Sy Samaky Ratanaram Pagoda in O’Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, the Prime Minister emphasised that the Royal Government is exhausting all diplomatic and strategic avenues to maintain peace.
"The Royal Government is working by every means possible to avoid the outbreak of war," the Prime Minister told the gathering. "Our priority is to ensure that while you are away from your homes, you have access to safety, clean environments, and the support necessary for daily life."
The Prime Minister’s visit underscores a policy of "no citizen left behind," a sentiment he echoed by stating that the hardships of the people are felt by the Royal Government and the nation at large.
The Royal Government has been coordinating temporary housing for those unable to return home, focusing on improving sanitation and security within the displacement centres.
Following on the same day, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also visited 300 displaced families from O’Chrov and Thmar Puok districts, Banteay Meanchey province.
