Cambodia and UN Strengthen Partnership in Mine Action
AKP Phnom Penh, February 10, 2026 -- The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) and the United Nations in Cambodia have reaffirmed partnership in mine action in Cambodia.
The commitment was made in a meeting here on Feb. 10 between H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of CMAA, and Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia.
In the meeting, both sides emphasised their commitment in strengthening partnership and cooperation on mine action in Cambodia.
H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch spoke highly of the United Nations’ significant contribution to supporting the peace process and socio-economic recovery in the Kingdom.
The United Nations has supported the resettlement of refugees and demining efforts, as well as helped build national capacity for mine action, leading to Cambodia's current success, he recalled.
He considered the United Nations as an important voice and an important partner in promoting, enhancing, and supporting Cambodia's efforts in the field of mine action.
H.E. Senior Minister also expressed gratitude to friendly countries and other development partners for their contribution and support to the mine action sector.
He highly appreciated and emphasised the important role of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) in promoting solidarity, unity, and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve sustainable growth, a shared destiny, and a shared future.
H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch reaffirmed Cambodia's position on resolving disputes with Thailand peacefully through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms, based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law.
