IFC Pledges to Support Cambodia’s Banking System Development
AKP Phnom Penh, February 10, 2026 --
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has reaffirmed its commitment to support the development of a stable and secure banking system in Cambodia in line with international standards and sustainable development.
The remarks were made by Mrs. Keiko Miwa, Division Director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands of IFC, while leading a delegation to meet with H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) on Feb. 10 at the NBC’s Wat Phnom building.
During the meeting, Mrs. Miwa praised the long-standing cooperation between IFC and NBC and welcomed the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the latest developments in the banking sector in Cambodia.
IFC is ready to continue to support the strengthening and security of the banking system in line with global best practices and sustainable growth, she said.
For her part, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey expressed her appreciation for the strong cooperation between the two institutions and thanked the IFC for its continued support through capacity building and technical assistance.
The NBC Governor also requested further assistance in establishing credit quality management mechanisms and promoting policy communication in the banking sector.
