Cambodia and Cyprus Solidify Diplomatic and Economic Alliances

In a high-profile diplomatic ceremony at the Presidential Palace on Monday, H.E. Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, officially received the credentials of H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo, Cambodia’s newly appointed non-resident Ambassador.
The meeting signals a strategic pivot toward deeper bilateral synergy and a robust commitment to multilateralism.
Ambassador Chanboribo delivered the fraternal greetings of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni and the Cambodian leaders, underscoring that the foundation of the Cyprus-Cambodia relationship is built upon a mutual respect for international law and the principle of sovereign equality.
The Ambassador articulated a comprehensive vision for the future, identifying critical sectors where the two nations can achieve immediate and impactful cooperation: Scaling partnerships in the agro-industrial sector, manufacturing, and high-efficiency logistics; Co-investment and knowledge exchange in digital transformation, green energy, and the "blue economy”; Strengthening "people-to-people" bonds through educational exchanges, cultural preservation initiatives, and revitalised tourism.
"Cambodia is prepared to synchronise efforts with Cyprus to elevate our political dialogue and economic integration, ensuring our partnership drives sustainable and inclusive global development," stated Ambassador Chanboribo.
Beyond bilateral interests, both nations reaffirmed their dedication to a rules-based international order.
The Ambassador emphasised the value of continued collaboration within the United Nations and the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), advocating for shared voices on global security and economic stability.
"We attach the highest importance to cultivating a partnership defined by shared benefits and a common spirit of progress," stated the Ambassador.
In response, President Christodoulides lauded the "positive momentum" of the relationship, praising Cambodia’s consistent role as a stabiliser in Southeast Asia and its proactive leadership within ASEAN. He signaled Cyprus’s readiness to translate these diplomatic overtures into practical, results-oriented cooperation rooted in mutual respect.
