AKP Phnom Penh, February 09, 2026 --
The majority of displaced people have returned to their homes, with only 13 percent still unable to do so, according to a news release issued by the Ministry of Interior on Monday.
The ministry said that approximately 560,000 people – nearly 87 percent of the more than 640,000 displaced persons – have already returned to their respective homes.
As of now, 86,271 displaced people, including 45,305 women and 28,012 children, remain unable to return home, the release added.
In response, relevant authorities are working closely together to provide temporary shelter and necessary assistance to those who remain displaced.
At the same time, 48 schools and 22 hospitals and health centres in three provinces – Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and Preah Vihear – remain suspended.
