Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport on Tuesday launched a voluntary blood donation campaign, led by Minister H.E. Peng Ponea, to strengthen national blood supplies for emergency medical care and frontline personnel.

The drive, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, brought together Royal Government officials, civil servants, and students from the Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport.

Dr. Sok Po, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Centre of the Ministry of Health, joined the event to oversee the collection process.

The initiative aims to provide critical life-saving support for wounded Cambodian soldiers and civilians in need of urgent medical intervention.

Beyond immediate supply, the campaign is designed to foster a sustainable "culture of voluntary donation" across the Kingdom.

"This campaign is about ensuring that blood is available to all patients in every hospital without discrimination of race, religion, or political affiliation," Minister Peng Ponea said during the event.

He further urged ministry leadership and staff to view blood donation as a pillar of social humanitarianism. 

"Giving blood is a gift of love from the heart for our frontline heroes and our fellow citizens, embodying the spirit of Cambodian solidarity and brotherhood," he added.

The Ministry of Health continues to encourage the public, particularly the youth, to engage with national blood services to ensure hospitals maintain sufficient reserves for emergency surgeries and trauma care.
