CRC President Donates Aid for Displaced Residents in Border Provinces
AKP Phnom Penh, December 30, 2025 -- Cambodian Red Cross President Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen has approved the donation of 60 tonnes of rice, 1,000 cases of bottled water and 1,000 cases of soft drinks to three border provinces to support displaced residents and emergency needs, the organisation said on Tuesday.
The assistance was allocated to the provincial administrations of Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey and Preah Vihear, all of which have been affected by population displacement along the border.
Oddar Meanchey received 20 tonnes of rice, 400 cases of bottled water and 400 cases of soft drinks, while Banteay Meanchey and Preah Vihear each received 20 tonnes of rice, 300 cases of bottled water and 300 cases of soft drinks.
In addition, the Cambodian Red Cross approved the distribution of 12,500 blankets to its provincial branches in seven provinces for humanitarian operations to assist displaced families. Banteay Meanchey and Siem Reap each received 3,000 blankets, followed by Oddar Meanchey and Battambang with 2,000 each, Preah Vihear with 1,500, and Pursat and Koh Kong with 500 blankets each.
The latest donation follows earlier assistance provided by Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen, who recently contributed US$210,000 to the National Committee for Disaster Management to purchase tents for temporary shelters for displaced residents.
She also previously donated rice, bottled water and soft drinks to Cambodian Red Cross branches in six provinces, including Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang and Pursat, with each province receiving 20 tonnes of rice and 200 cases each of bottled water and soft drinks.
The Cambodian Red Cross, under the Honorary President of Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, expressed its gratitude to donors for their continued support of humanitarian operations assisting displaced communities along the border.
