AKP Thbong Khmom, December 27, 2025 --
National Assembly Second Vice President H.E. Vong Sauth paid tribute on Saturday to fallen soldiers from Memut and Thbong Khmum districts in Thbong Khmum province.
At a ceremony for bereaved families in Memut, he praised the soldiers who died in combat with Thai forces on Dec. 17 as “courageous and heroic warriors who sacrificed their lives in the mission to defend Cambodia's territorial integrity.”
Addressing the families, the Second Vice President described their deaths as “a loss of valuable human resources for the national armed forces.
‘MODEL OF HEROISM’
“This model of heroism will be recorded in history, and we all must be grateful and honour the heroes who have protected the peace of the people,” he said.
He urged compatriots inside and outside Cambodia to continue uniting as one and to have faith in the country’s leadership “to jointly defend the nation's territorial integrity so it endures, and not allow any enemy to violate it.”
“The presence of the National Assembly leadership at this time clearly shows that the National Assembly and the Royal Government never abandon the heroes of the armed forces, national police forces, and citizens under any circumstances.”
In expressing condolences, H.E. Vong Sauth offered to each family 5 million Riel (about US$1,250) — 1 million Riel from National Assembly President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary plus 4 million Riel from provincial representatives.
He also offered each of the families 250 kilogrammes of rice and five cases of noodles.
