3rd Special Cambodia-Thailand GBC Meeting Kicks Off to Seek Ceasefire and End Hostilities

The 3rd Special Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting commenced this morning at 9:30 a.m. with the aim of reaching a ceasefire and achieving the cessation of hostilities along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
The information was shared by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, adding that the meeting is being held at the Prom-Pak Kard Permanent Border Checkpoint, located between Pailin province of Cambodia and Chanthaburi province of Thailand, under the observation of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) from both Cambodia and Thailand.
The Cambodian delegation is led by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Co-Chairman of the Cambodia-Thailand GBC. The Thai delegation is headed by H.E. Gen. Nattaphon Narkphanit, Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Co-Chairman of the Thailand-Cambodia GBC.
“Cambodia firmly anticipates that this 3rd Special Cambodia-Thailand GBC Meeting will yield a practical and implementable ceasefire, create conditions for affected civilians to return safely to their homes, and encourage both countries to continue utilising existing mechanisms to resolve issues peacefully,” the spokeswoman stressed.
