Cambodia, Canada Promote Trade Cooperation

Cambodia and Canada have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying their trade cooperation.
The reaffirmation was made in a meeting here on Nov. 20 between H.E. Long Kemvichet, Director-General of the General Department of International Trade and Cambodia’s Lead for the Trade Negotiating Committee of the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement and H.E. Ambra Dickie, Canadian Ambassador to Cambodia.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on overall trade and investment relations at both bilateral and regional levels, particularly in the context of the ongoing negotiations of the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement (ACAFTA).
Both sides also underscored the importance of advancing the ACAFTA negotiations toward a substantial conclusion in line with the 2026 timeline.
H.E. Long Kemvichet reiterated Cambodia’s unwavering support for the continued progress of the ACAFTA negotiations.
In addition, the two sides discussed a number of key potential areas of cooperation, including Trade, Food Security, E-commerce, Energy, Digitalisation, and Artificial Intelligence, with a view to deepening collaboration in these areas and exploring further opportunities at both bilateral and regional levels.
