AKP Phnom Penh, November 13, 2025 --
Senior officials from China, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam convened in Kunming on Nov. 11 for the 2nd Workshop on the Lancang–Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Innovation Corridor Development, reaffirming their shared vision for a digitally connected and green sub-region.
According to a news release from the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) issued this morning, the meeting focused on deepening collaboration in science, technology, and innovation (STI) to drive sustainable, inclusive, and low-carbon growth across the Mekong region.
A key outcome was the commitment to strengthen cooperation on cross-border data flow, recognised as vital for trade, logistics, and digital transformation.
“The Lancang–Mekong Cooperation today is not merely a regional framework, but a dynamic engine for shared and sustainable prosperity. The Innovation Corridor is a visionary blueprint that must be firmly anchored in the pillars of science, technology, and innovation,” said H.E. Dr. Try Sophal, Director General of the MISTI’s General Department of STI, at the forum.
H.E. Sophal also highlighted Cambodia’s focus on green growth, noting that green technology and sustainable industry are central to the country’s development agenda. The Cambodian delegation proposed forming an LMC Task Force to advance a Green Technology Exchange Initiative and launching a joint research programme on green technology and digital innovation in 2026.
